Business Organizations in the VMS
Business organizations in the VMS are third party MSP entities that use the VMS to facilitate their business for their clients. This organization is a 'container' that ties an MSP organization to a client organization. A business organization has its own management structure and operates as if it is an independent company.
This relationship can be configured at the parent client organizational level, or at the business organizational level. Client company data created and maintained by a business organization is segregated at the entity level.
A client organization can have multiple business organizations configured. All business organizations display on the Business Organizations tab in the client's configuration. There is a one-to-one relationship with a client organization, and business organizations cannot be shared between client organizations.
All business organization settings are inherited from the parent client. You can view/edit all settings for the organization using the left navigation. For descriptions of the settings, see the relevant section in the MSP user guide configuration section.
- Separate for parent client / each business organization - When creating a client manager user, there is no option to add a business organization. The user is only assigned to the business organization that they were created for.
- Parent client level only - When creating a client manager user, you can assign
the user to one or many business organizations.
You can view configured users at the business organization level by navigating to the Business Organizations tab, and then clicking the Users tab in the top navigation. You can also use the Client drop down and select the configured organization. See Configure a User.
